A meeting was held with the Laamu Gan Council to share progress and updates on the “Heritage Trail” project currently being implemented in Laamu Gan by the Maldives Heritage Society and Outreef Sports Club.

The Heritage Trail Project aims to connect the island’s natural and cultural heritage sites, creating opportunities for heritage appreciation, environmental conservation, and sustainable tourism development. During the meeting, project progress and upcoming activities were presented to the Council.

Discussions also focused on the commencement of tree planting activities along the Heritage Trail. It was agreed that a community tree-planting event would be held on 30 December in collaboration with the Gan Council, Outreef Sports Club, and the Maldives Heritage Society.

The Heritage Trail Project is being implemented with financial support from the Laamu Atoll Council and the support and cooperation of the Laamu Gan Council.

Additional tree-planting activities are also planned in collaboration with other organizations and community groups in the coming months as part of ongoing efforts to enhance and conserve the Heritage Trail area.
