Minister Thoriq Ibrahim Tours Heritage Sites in Laamu Gan

The Minister of Tourism and Environment, Honorable Thoriq Ibrahim, who is currently on an official visit to Haddhunmathi, visited several heritage sites in Laamu Gan today.
During the visit, the Minister toured Pareefenganda, one of the island’s important natural heritage sites, and also visited the heritage trail connecting Pareefengandu and Hattheli.
Representatives of the Maldives Heritage Society briefed the Minister on the historical significance of these sites and shared information on the concept design of the proposed platform planned for development within the Pareefenganda area.
Pareefenganda is a natural lake surrounded by mangrove wetlands in Laamu Gan. The site is well known for its rich biodiversity as well as the many cultural beliefs, folklore, and traditional stories associated with the lake, making it an important part of the island’s natural and cultural heritage.
