Heritage Awareness Session on Historic Fonadhoo Mosque Conducted for Villa International High School Students

A heritage awareness session on the historic mosque of Laamu Fonadhoo was conducted for students of Villa International High School.

During the session, students were introduced to the life, scholarship, and national contributions of the renowned Islamic scholar associated with the mosque, Al-Allama Al-Faqeeh Al-Khatheeb Mohamed Sirajuddin. The discussion highlighted the lessons that can be drawn from his life, achievements, and service to the nation.

The session also explored various aspects of Maldivian cultural heritage, including traditional coral stone craftsmanship, historical mosque construction techniques, burial traditions, the carving of gravestones, calligraphy, and customs associated with mosques and ziyaaraiy (shrines). These topics provided students with valuable insights into the rich cultural and historical heritage of the Maldives.

The session also highlighted ongoing collaborative efforts between the Maldives Heritage Society and the L. Fonadhoo Council to preserve and promote the historic Fonadhoo Mosque and its associated heritage.
