Maldives Heritage Society Pays Courtesy Call on State Minister for Arts, Culture and Heritage

The President of the Maldives Heritage Society paid a courtesy call on Mohamed Thariq, State Minister at the Ministry of Arts, Culture and Heritage.
During the meeting, the Society briefed the State Minister on its ongoing heritage conservation, research, and awareness initiatives, as well as its efforts to promote and preserve the cultural heritage of the Maldives. Discussions also covered challenges facing the protection of archaeological and historic sites and opportunities for collaboration in advancing heritage conservation efforts.
Particular attention was given to heritage sites in the Haddhunmathi region, including the preservation of historic mosques and the potential for greater cooperation between the Ministry, local councils, and civil society organizations in safeguarding these important cultural assets.
The Maldives Heritage Society also expressed its appreciation for the State Minister’s longstanding contribution to the field of cultural heritage conservation. Mohamed Thariq has been actively involved in heritage preservation efforts in the Maldives since the 1980s and remains a respected figure in the sector.
